Nintendo Adds Another Game To Its Growing Suite Of $80 Titles https://www.thegamer.com/fire-emblem...deogameconsole
"Fortune's Weave finally got its release date during Tuesday's Direct, as Nintendo threw it into the already massive pile of titles slated to launch this September. As if going up against countless other games won't be hard enough for the new Fire Emblem game, Nintendo has also confirmed its physical version costs $79.99.
Fortune's Weave Is Nintendo's Next $80 Game
Nintendo confirmed earlier this year that there will be a price difference between physical and digital versions of its first-party games moving forward. The confirmation was framed as a price drop for digital games rather than a price hike for physical ones, which, if still true, suggests Fortune's Weave would have been $80 both physically and digitally had Nintendo not introduced the new pricing system.
A year on from the release of Mario Kart World, Nintendo remains the only studio to have upped the price of a standard game to $80 and not backed down. Xbox attempted to follow suit, putting an $80 price tag on The Outer Worlds 2. However, backlash to that attempt to follow in Mario's footsteps (or kart tracks) quickly resulted in the pre-order price dropping to the standard $70."
